Why vacation in just one country when you can experience three in a single day?

If you’re vacationing at Lake Ossiach in Carinthia, you’re just a stone’s throw away from a very special region. Austria, Italy, and Slovenia meet right around Villach.

From our Seecamping Kölbl campground on Lake Ossiach, the Three-Country Region is a joy to explore. And it doesn’t always have to be the classic Three-Country Corner. There are also special places and small day-trip destinations waiting in the immediate vicinity.

The Three-Country Corner near Arnoldstein

Of course, the Three-Country Corner near Arnoldstein is one of the region’s most famous destinations. You can take the mountain railway up comfortably, and once you reach the top, a beautiful view of Carinthia and the surrounding mountains awaits.

Depending on your mood and how much time you have, there are various hiking and walking options. If you prefer to take it easy, you can simply enjoy the view and spend a few relaxing hours on the mountain.

Laghi di Fusine in Italy

Just a few kilometers across the border lie the Laghi di Fusine. These two beautiful mountain lakes are surrounded by forest and set against the impressive backdrop of the Julian Alps.

The lakes can be explored on a leisurely stroll, making them a wonderful destination for families as well. From our campground on Lake Ossiach, Italy is just a short drive away, yet the trip still feels like a little adventure.

Bled in Slovenia

Slovenia is also right on our doorstep. Bled is especially beautiful, with its lake, small island, and castle.

Bled is no longer a hidden gem. If you set out early and take your time, you can still have a wonderful day there. Take a walk along the lake, go for a ride on a pletna, or simply enjoy the view. And, of course, a Bled cream slice is an absolute must.

Our Insider Tip

If you’re looking for something a little less well-known, you should visit the Slizza Gorge near Tarvisio.

The trail leads through the forest, along the river, and over footbridges through the impressive gorge. The loop isn’t particularly long and can easily be combined with a trip to Tarvisio. We especially like this place precisely because it’s usually a bit quieter here.

The best thing about our Seecamping Kölbl in Ossiach on Lake Ossiach is the location. Today Carinthia, tomorrow Italy, and the day after tomorrow Slovenia. Many destinations are within easy reach, and these three countries—each with very different vacation experiences—offer plenty of variety on your trip.

Have breakfast by Lake Ossiach in the morning, take a stroll through Italy a few hours later, and be back at the campground by evening. That’s exactly what makes a vacation with us so special.
